For my final patternmaking project I came up with a jacket and pant set which was heavily inspired by nature. I called this jacket the “butterfly orchid” as I tried to closely resemble the detatchable, hand-beaded appliqués as petals or wings. The symmetry in the center front and center back axis points are at the same level which creates another petal/wing shape at the side seam. The jacket features a short shawl collar with grommet closing details. The pants have a total of eight pleats creating a roomy hip area to allow the wearer to feel comfortable and light. The sleeve has a box pleat starting just above the elbow, allowing more ease and adding chic detailing.
